Program
The two-week event will be a celebration of women and their accomplishments,
as well as a platform for a dialogue on the challenges facing them. It has the following goals: to familiarise the Hague community with some of the aspects of modern Ukrainian culture, to provide insights into some of the challenges of modern women in art, literature, film and socio-political life, to encourage a dialogue between Dutch and Ukrainian women in art and culture,
to create a global network with a Ukrainian experience.
May 12 Opening reception and the launch of Matrix Orange
May 13 Music Event
Soncekliosh is an ethno-cabaret music band from Kyiv. The group collects folk urban songs and gives them a new life in reggae, jazz and Latino.
May 14 Literary evening with Ukrainian writer Oksana Zabuzhko,
Oksana Zabuzhko is Ukraine’s leading contemporary writer and a living classic. Her “Field Studies in Ukrainian Sex”, recently published in the Netherlands, was named “the most influential Ukrainian book for the first 15 years of independence”.
May 15 Art Exhibition
Oksana Stratiichuk, member of the National Artists’ Union of Ukraine, over 10 personal exhibitions in Ukraine and abroad, works in museums and personal collections
of Ukraine, Russia, Latvia, Germany, Italy and Japan.
Kateryna Kosianenko, member of the National Artists’ Union of Ukraine; numerous
awards include 5th prize in painting at the Florence Biennale, Florence,Italy (2009); silver medal, Ukrainian Academy of Arts (2006); 1st prize, Salone d’Automne, Paris, France (2003).
Oksana Popinova, instructor at the Kyiv Institute of Decorative Art; works exhibited
at the Kyiv Museum of Modern Ukrainian Art, numerous exhibitions and are part of private collections in Ukraine, USA, Germany, Japan, Russia and Moldova.
Anna Canter, a Paris-born artist with Ukrainian roots; graduate of Atelier Clouet (Paris), the National School of Decorative Art (Strasbourg) , Rhode Island School of Design (USA) and Harvard University; most of the works exhibited in Paris.
