Ljubljana. The city and the seminar
My travel to Ljubljana, Slovenia, was short and limited with professional activity. In Moderna Galerija of Ljubljana the seminar of conservation of contemporary art was hold during 2 days.
As I arrived very late the day before seminar and left very early in the morning the day after seminar, I had unfortunately not much chance to see the city. But what I was able to see, was beautiful. The city as such is not big, but historical center is quite amazing. It is lying in two sides of river. Both sides were full of Christmas decoration, Christmas markets, coffees, restaurants, little shops etc. Everything I happened to see by running through the city seemed to be very fascinating – certainly it is a place to return.
The seminar (Access2CA: Access to Contemporary Art Conservation) I visited, was extremely useful. First day was for broader public, consisting of presentations by specialists. The second day was closed only for those who are organizing the big conference in June 2010, “Contemporary Art, Who Cares?” The work was divided into working groups. One of them was called: INCCA-CAA – the network for conservators of contemporary art in Central and Eastern Europe. It was our firs meeting with the professionals from other countries in this region. It was great to meet and discuss personally with colleagues with same profession in same region, with whom we have had lot of contacts before the seminar via e-mail. I’m sure it will become very good platform for all the professionals from the region and will contribute a lot to the development of the contemporary art conservation management in Central and Eastern Europe.
