Access2CA: Access to Contemporary Art Conservation -PRACTISs meeting
Seminar in Ljubljana
The seminar Access2CA: Access to Contemporary Art Conservation was interesting both in professional and personal way.
Ljubljana is a city of nice memories since my student days. From there I left to participate on the first symposium Modern Art: Who Cares? (MA:WC?) held in Amsterdam, 1997, which completely changed my professional interest and orientation.
Another coincidence was to go to Ljubljana from Warsaw, with my PhD mentor, prof. Iwona Szmelter, whose name I noticed in first symposium papers. I remember how surprised I was: "Is it possible that someone from Eastern Europe understood the chance and importance of being active part of the project?"
So, to participate on the seminar in Ljubljana, which is part of the preparation for the second conference CA:WC2?, made me think about those coincidences... also to be proud about Moderna Galerija Ljubljana and people who make part of now formally established International Network for Conservation of Contemporary Art – Central Eastern Europe (INCCA-CEE) group. I wish that demonstrated motivation, initiative and ideas will influence in positive way conservation practices in general and especially in our (CEE) institutions and counties and will contribute to reach higher professional standards in preserving cultural and artistic heritage.
