VISION

Creation of society of equal opportunities for all citizens, in which sensitized citizens make informed decisions and are conscious about their responsibility for society in whole.

O.M.G. – OPEN MEDIA GROUP has been founded with the aims of promotion of civil society and protection of human rights, especially rights of the young by compiling modern technologies with arts, especially film art; raising awareness of the young and promoting the values of the society of equal opportunities for all citizens, and especially promoting gender equality.

O.M.G. gathers young people that decided to employ their knowledge and experience in promotion of human rights and value of democracy. Our experience includes media production, organization, media campaign design, and knowledge on media effects and impact, which is all very important for quality promotion. We have a big network of contacts in media production and broadcasting, for every project we engage experts based on the project needs. In this way we are ensuring that the topic is covered thoroughly and with quality. Also we have to be very sensitive to the impact that media has on its recipients (viewers, readers), and use the media language to cover the topic. We want to use all modes of presentation through the specific medium, thus bringing the topic closer to the viewer.
O.M.G. has created, developed and realized 5 documentary films in co-operation with various partners: "Bad Blue Boys" directed by Branko Schmidt, "Blue Rose Garden" directed by Mladen Santric, "Facing the Day" directed by Ivona Juka, "Bitter-sweet" directed by Tomislav Fiket and "Look at Me!".
OMG created and implemented numerous media campaigns aimed at raising awareness on different topics of civil society, mainly prevention of and combating violence against women and trafficking of human beings.
Please read more details about all the projects and profile of Anita Juka.

Besides these projects we cooperated with organisation “B.A.B.E.” in the development of documentary films inside the project “Support to free and independent media in Western Balkan”. We also made adaptation of video clips for United Nations Office for Drug Control and Crime Prevention for Croatian Television as well as the adaptation of the film about refugees for the UNHCR. We have established a good cooperation with UNDP in Croatia – we were involved in organizing the celebration of 62nd Anniversary of UN, 15th Anniversary of Croatia becoming the UN member and Croatia entering the Security Council. OMG Board Members Anita Juka and Maja Vukic are members of the Coordinating Committee of Action “Less weapons-less tragedies”, the national campaign for return of illegal weapons implemented by UNDP and Ministry of Interior. Anita Juka is also National Coordinator of the campaign “All Different – All Equal” of Council of Europe for Croatia.
In 2004 we organized the main celebration of International Human Rights Day on Zagreb’s Cvjetni trg for Government of the Croatia Office for Human Rights within also a big humanitarian action for Special hospital for chronical diseases of the childhood Gornja Bistra (Croatia) in which we involved many celebrities who were selling items donated by sponsors. With this action we got enough media attention to encourage other humanitarian actions to take place. All this continuing actions resulted in donations aimed at improving conditions in hospital in Gornja Bistra. We also organized the charity auction of costumes from the fiction film “100 Minutes of Glory” as part of the action “Your Minute of Glory”. We organized the same event in 2005 and in 2006 and 2007 when we moved to the main city square. We were also partners in organizing the International Conference against trafficking of human beings in Cavtat, attended by many government officials from around the world.
With each activity and project we implement, we always try to directly help a person or institution. After the production of documentary film “Blue rose Garden”, in cooperation with Office for Human Rights we organised humanitarian action in which famous persons – singers, actors and sportsmen – sold doughnuts and Christmas wheat, and through direct donations also companies were involved. By that action 40.000,00 kn were gathered for renovation of the building for volunteers. It was just the first action in the long row: after the broadcasting of the film on television, a lot of viewers made direct contributions and through internet forums people encouraged each other to donate.
