Comic centre of Macedonia -Veles
The Comic Centre of Macedonia, located in Veles, was formed in 2002 as a prolongation of the Society of Citizen Lovers of Strip Art "Comic Art, formed in 1995.
Resources: room on benefiting, equipment, computer, scenery, printer, space for exhibition of comics. Open constant comic library with 6.000 comics.
Aims of the organization
-organizing of creators of comic
-presentation of their works to domestic and foreign public
-creation of conditions for detecting of new creators of comics
-organizing of cultural forms for approximation of comic to wider public--exchange of information’s and experiences with similar institutions from the world
Activities
1) Published 16 numbers of magazine “STRIP ART” also like particular special number. In this catalogue the comic is exposed by authors from their countries before in join with ex-JY, also like authors from France.
2) Published comic book” MISS STONE” on Macedonian and English
-Published comic book “Outlaws fountain”-executed
3) 20 many comic exhibitions
4) Organized 4 two days international saloons for comic to quest from Serbia, Bulgaria and Slovenia .On these saloons except expose part, were scouted and debates for the development and the role of this comic at this regions.
5) Participation of few international salons for comic (like guests) in Serbia and Croatia.
6.) Executed 7 comic workshops -*4 multiethnic:
a) MULTI KULTI financed by FOSIM
b) project “Through comic to communication and friendship” financed by program IERSE. financed by SOROS (MULTI KULTI and INTERETHNIC (together with KING BOUDAIN, ALLAVIDA, CHARLESS STEWART MOTT)
c) 1(one) with young roman’s from Skopje, Veles, Sveti Nikole, Kocani and Kavadarci that droved of different themes of “INTERNATIONAL ROMA DECADE” –education, human rights, housing, culture etc. This workshop is part of the project” COMIC DECADE” financed by FIOOM –SOROS and World Bank – office of Skopje.
* Remark for 4: For all mentioned workshops it is common to publish catalogues with created works and organized exhibitions in places where young authors lived.
The Comic Centre of Macedonia in its work also includes the minorities in Macedonia through the activities that are mentioned in the upper part of the text. Also, for affirmation of the comic culture and art the Comic Centre of Macedonia cooperates with other non-governmental and government organizations for different projects.
7. Project “Balkan comic bridge”-financed by the European Cultural Foundation – Amsterdam. Organized international comic workshop in Veles with authors from Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia and Montenegro.
Exhibitions in Macedonia (Skopje, Veles and Bitola), Leskovac -Serbia, Cotor –Montenegro and Zagreb –Croatia.
Published special number for comic review "COMIC CREATOR".
